UDOT/regional trails initiative discussed; Casey Snyder scheduled for Dec. 5 public meeting in Wellsville

Councilmembers and staff discussed a UDOT-led initiative to connect cities with trails and reviewed a projected alignment that would bring a trail from the canyon down 200 West to 900 South and through Center Street. Staff said the project is on a prioritized list and will require studies and funding phases.
Members noted an existing underpass/tunnel constructed as part of a Valley View road project and said an underpass will be a key safety component should the trail be routed across busy corridors. Staff said Cache County Trails is conducting studies for some segments and that state funding and prioritization will determine construction timing.
The council announced that state official Casey Snyder will hold a public meeting here on Dec. 5 to explain plans, projects and timelines and to hear citizen concerns. Staff said they will publicize the meeting and encouraged residents to attend and provide input. No formal action was taken at the Nov. 5 council meeting; staff will coordinate the Dec. 5 session.
