During the public comment period at the Abilene City Council meeting, Eddie Pugh of Potosi described his military service and his reasons for entering politics, saying he is running for the Texas House in District 71.
Pugh recounted six combat deployments with the U.S. Air Force and service on AWACS and with Special Operations missions. He said that, after retiring, he drew attention to alleged local government misconduct and believes he was targeted as a result: "They set my bond at 75,000 then raised it to 500,000 because I refused to remain silent," Pugh said on the record, describing an ankle monitor and legal restrictions he said affected his family life. He said he completed a bachelor's degree in psychology and is running "because our communities deserve leadership that is uncompromised, unbought, and unafraid."
Pugh closed by saying he would not back down and asked residents to consider his candidacy for District 71.
