City Manager reports on Fire Station 55 activity, housing permits and Centennial Park renovation

Martel also summarized housing permit activity through April 2025: permits dipped in 2024 but have increased again in 2025 and remain well below the limit set in the city’s growth management ordinance. He told the board this indicates positive permit trends without pushing utility capacity limits established during the ordinance review.
Finally, Martel reminded the board that Centennial Park is closed for synthetic turf replacement on the northern fields, a project he described as roughly $6,000,000 and scheduled for completion in spring 2026. He asked users to find alternate recreation areas while construction continues.
Supervisors praised recent community events and the parks department, noting tournaments at the Pete Livermore Complex brought regional visitors to Carson City.
