Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell proclaimed Nov. 9–15, 2025 as Nevada Flood Awareness Week and urged residents to visit nevadafloods.org for preparedness information. The proclamation noted past flood events from the Carson River and local canyons and emphasized education to reduce risk.
Staff announced Amanda Singleton as Carson City’s new Stormwater Manager. Amanda and other public works staff described a flash flooding event in the Pinion Hills neighborhood in August that required crews to work approximately four weeks to clean roads, restore ditches, clear culverts and haul sediment. Staff said those cleanup and stormwater projects are funded through the stormwater utility fee.
City staff said they will provide resources on the city website and a stormwater hotline for public access and that a flood preparedness workshop is being planned for the coming months. The city’s general message from staff was to be prepared and safe.
No formal board action was required for the proclamation or staffing announcement.
