The commission proclaimed Friday, Nov. 7, as Arbor Day in Clovis and encouraged citizens, businesses and schools to celebrate by protecting and planting trees.
Commissioner Paula, who chairs the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee, presented the proclamation and invited the public to a tree planting at Roy Walker Recreation Center at 11 a.m. on Nov. 7. The proclamation recounted the historical origins of Arbor Day and highlighted community and environmental benefits of trees, including erosion control, temperature moderation and property‑value enhancement.
The commission urged residents and businesses to support tree protection efforts and to join the planting event the following day.
