Ivins Police Chief reported several enforcement developments Nov. 6, including a recent drug-distribution case in which officers recovered multiple firearms and quantities of cocaine and other substances, and a cooperative investigation with state and federal Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) teams.
The chief said the department helped seize "guns that were seized were in the teens" and confiscated distributable amounts of cocaine and other controlled substances in a home in Ivins. He also described two ICAC operations assisted by Detective Muse, one with the FBI (a search warrant in Canton) and another with the State Bureau of Investigation that resulted in an arrest for exploitation of a minor.
The department also reviewed public-safety operations during a recent PGA event, reporting roughly 30,000 spectator visits over the week and 16 to 19 traffic accidents during peak times. The chief said he would assemble a pin map to analyze accident locations across recent years and report back.
Finally, the chief said four budgeted replacement vehicles have now been received and are being outfitted; three are in service and the fourth will follow shortly.
Council members thanked him for the updates and had no formal action related to the report.
