Prosser Career Education Center hosted an Options Day that brought together more than 110 vendors from schools, businesses, the military and apprenticeship programs, organizers said.
Student 1, a student at Prosser Career Education Center, said, "Options Options day is just that. It's an opportunity for our students to be presented options, not only for their current program that they may be enrolled in at Prosser, but also the options that could be there for them when they leave Prosser. We have over 110 vendors here today. We have representations from school, business, military, apprenticeships." The speaker added, "What more could you ask for for our students?"
Another attendee observed the vendor turnout exceeded past years. Student 2 said, "That's more than we ever have had in the past."
Several students described Options Day as a networking opportunity that expands career ideas. Student 3 said the environment was "great," noting that meeting businesses and making connections made them "open up to new things" and consider options beyond the career path they had set in mind.
Student 4 said the event helped students learn more about companies and hiring practices, and that they were finding part‑time jobs useful for after school and post‑education plans: "I'm finding part time jobs that I've needed and just after school like post education. I feel really good about my prospects like in the careers I wanna go into. This is really opening a lot of doors for me."
A speaker identified as Student 1 returned to note the event—s emotional and educational value: "Options day at Prosser is 1 of my most favorite days of the year. It's always a pleasant opportunity for me to walk around, not only to get to to see the students that come to Prosser, but also to see the smiles on their faces, to see them asking questions, to see them interacting, networking, making those connections, but also to really maybe ignite something inside of them and maybe give them a glimpse of something they never thought before. That's something special. I hope that we continue to do for years to come, and I hope it continues to grow."
Organizers and students framed the event as a way to expose attendees to career pathways and hiring opportunities; no formal actions, votes, contracts or funding decisions were reported during the session segment provided.
