At the start of the Nov. 6 meeting, Robert Williamson, deputy director and acting secretary for the commission, announced that Yasmin Arslan has been appointed interim historic preservation officer for the City of Houston. Williamson said Arslan (also recorded in the transcript with variant spellings) has served in the historic preservation office for more than six years and holds a degree in architectural engineering.

Williamson also told the commission that this year's landmark designations and historic‑district reclassifications will be presented for City Council consideration and public comment on Dec. 3, and that staff completed a final draft of the Norhill design guidelines with a public hearing scheduled Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Monte Beach Community Center. A draft of the guidelines is available on the Planning Department website, Williamson said.
