Board approves $875 NYSDOT advance payment for small Route 286 easement

The Penfield Central School District Board of Education approved a resolution on Nov. 4 accepting an $875 advance payment from the New York State Department of Transportation for a small strip of district property needed for Route 286 rehabilitation work.
During the business update, Driffill (the district business official) described NYSDOT’s planned Route 286 work — lighting, signage, drainage and walkway improvements — and said the DOT requested approximately 400 square feet of a district office corner parcel. He said the DOT provided an appraisal, that the district’s attorney reviewed the appraisal and that the offer of $875 matches the appraised value.
A motion to accept the advance payment was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote with none opposed.
Driffill said the strip in question was “about 400 square feet” and described it as a narrow corner strip near the district sign. The board’s approval authorized acceptance of the NYSDOT advance payment for the Route 286 rehabilitation project.
