Penfield board adopts building emergency response plan updates; district plans submitted to NYSED

The Penfield Central School District Board of Education on Nov. 4 approved amendments to the district’s building emergency response plans and confirmed those plans were submitted to the New York State Education Department before the Oct. 1 deadline.
Superintendent Dr. Potter told the board that New York State Education Department requirements require annual submission of district and building emergency response plans and that the Board of Education must approve plans in regular session. He said the board previously approved the district emergency response plan on Aug. 19, 2025 and that building‑specific plans were updated in partnership with principals, school‑based teams and local law enforcement.
Dr. Potter said copies of the building plans were provided to local law enforcement, specifically the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Brighton Police Department. A motion to approve the building emergency response plan amendments was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote with none opposed.
The board’s action on Nov. 4 satisfied the local approval step required by New York State and aligned with the district’s reported timeline for plan updates and interagency coordination.
