Several Milford residents and aldermen used public comment and the closing portion of the meeting to pay tribute to outgoing Board of Aldermen members and longtime volunteers.
Speakers including Eitan and Carmina Hirsch, Charles Matalbano, Peggy Kearney and Toni Lombardi offered personal tributes to Dr. Ellen Beatty, who completed her term on the board. Comments emphasized Beatty's commitment to constituent service, policy knowledge and civic engagement. "You have given of yourself to aid in the need of others for so many years," one speaker said.
Several aldermen also took time during the meeting to thank colleagues who are leaving the board after the election, including remarks noting decades of local public‑school leadership and community organizing. Outgoing members in remarks praised staff, volunteers and the small army of residents who support Milford's civic life.
The board accepted the public tributes and adjourned following additional brief remarks from several aldermen and the chair.
