Daniel, a representative for Highlands Park City Air Rescue and Transport (presenting AirMedCare membership), told the board that an AirMedCare household membership would cover flight bills that otherwise can reach $60,000–$70,000 and said an employer-group rate for an entity in the 500–999 range would price a one-year membership at $65 per employee.
"A year membership, for an entity that has about 600 employees a year membership is gonna cost $65," Daniel said, noting the membership covers the entire household and that the company has tiered options for three-, five- and ten-year memberships.
Board members asked how payroll deductions and remittance would work; Daniel said the school system would only process payroll deductions and then remit the funds to the membership network so the district would not bear financial risk. "The school system would make those payroll deductions in January, and then remit that back to your Medicare network," he said.
A board member moved to make AirMedCare an employee-funded option for Russell County Public Schools employees; another board member seconded the motion. The board approved the motion by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The motion was later amended on the record to specify the cost would be borne by employees, not by the school system, and that payroll deductions would follow the district's normal voluntary-deduction processes.
The board directed staff to work with the provider on implementation details, including required payroll schedules and any required thresholds for group pricing. No district-funded subsidy was authorized.
