The Board of Commissioners approved several infrastructure awards, contracts and grant applications during its meeting.
Public Works reported the Hertzler Bridge is closed after inspection. The county received a single bid from Kinsley Construction for $169,168; HRG reviewed the bid and staff recommended awarding the contract, which the board approved. For the Bishop Bridge removal project the board authorized execution of temporary construction easements totaling 904 square feet; the property owner had signed the documents and staff said the easements are required to proceed once bids are received.
In the contracts and grants section, staff asked the board to accept three bronze-level sponsorships (AT&T FirstNet, Members 1st Federal Credit Union, Wegmans) totaling $750 to help offset expenses for the LEPC summit; the sponsors were accepted and staff reported total summit sponsorship funds of $11,250. The board also approved smaller grant acceptances and contracts: a $3,000 sponsorship for a county America 250 celebration; a $2,000 technical assistance/training grant for the county criminal justice advisory board; a Family Health Council contract adjustment for drug and alcohol services; a $10,000 contract with Laurel Life for family-based mental-health services; and a $13,500 contract with NRG Health for hazmat team medicals covering 18 personnel for 12 months.
Staff also presented and the board approved submitting an LSA grant application (just under $6.861 million) for rehabilitation of the historic courthouse: permanent brownstone repairs, masonry investigation, cupola and clock repair/painting, plaster repair in the historic courtroom, and audiovisual and lighting upgrades to increase usability for events.
All listed motions were approved by voice vote unless otherwise noted in the transcript.
