Board recognizes National School Psychology Week and honors district practitioners

The St. Mary’s County Board of Education recognized National School Psychology Week during its Nov. 5 meeting.
Kate Weaver, supervisor of student services, and Ashley Fox, department chair, described the district’s psychology staff and the range of services they provide, including psychological evaluations, consultation, crisis response and professional development. Presenters said the department includes 16 professionals: 13 full-time school psychologists, one virtual school psychologist, two substitutes and a virtual paraeducator, and that the district is recruiting an intern for the 2026–27 school year.
Superintendent Dr. Smith read a resolution that formally designates November 2025 as National School Psychology Week in St. Mary’s County Public Schools and encouraged staff and students to recognize the event. Board members took a photograph with presenters and commended the department’s work supporting students’ social, emotional and academic needs.
