The Prince William County School Board used its Thriving Futures segment to recognize a nationally honored district administrator and five schools named to 2025 America's Healthiest Schools.
The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) named Dr. Lynn Colón, PWCS director of student opportunity and multilingual services, its 2025 national central office administrator of the year. "This recognition touches me deeply as it is not a reflection only of my journey, but the collective spirit that defines our school division," Dr. Colón said, thanking colleagues and naming the strategic plan and multilingual learners as central to her work.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation named five PWCS schools to the 2025 list. Brentsville District honorees included Buckland Mills Elementary (recognized for school health services, social-emotional health, staff well-being and family engagement), Piney Branch Elementary (recognized across nutrition, health education and wellness categories) and Victory Elementary (recognized for school health services, nutrition and family engagement). The Gainesville District honored Unity Braxton Middle School with an "all-star" distinction for excellence across nine categories. The Neabsco District recognized Minnieville Elementary for health services, physical education and staff well-being.
School principals and district representatives accepted the recognitions and the superintendent and board members thanked staff and families. The board presented tokens of appreciation and invited honorees forward for photos.
