Auburn council continues public hearing, postpones moratorium vote on student housing to Nov. 18

The Auburn City Council opened a public hearing on a proposed moratorium on construction of multi‑unit developments and private dormitory developments in the urban core and Urban Neighborhood West on Nov. 4 and postponed the decision to Nov. 18, Mayor Ron Anders said.
Anders said the council heard from a number of residents during the public hearing. He also said staff presented concerns in a long work session earlier that week about the continued growth of student housing and the pressure points that growth is creating for city services and neighborhoods.
The council intends to continue the public hearing on Nov. 18; residents with views on a potential moratorium were invited to contact their council representative or attend that meeting, Anders said.
