Mount Pleasant schedules Nov. 24 joint session with city commission and property owners on Crawford'Broomfield rezoning

City planning staff told the Mount Pleasant Planning Commission on Nov. 6, 2025, that the city will hold a joint session with the City Commission and property owners on Nov. 24 to revisit the Crawford'Broomfield rezoning (Z-24-01).
Miss Pobodyka said the joint meeting is being scheduled roughly one year after the planning commission's earlier recommendation and the city commission's narrow disapproval. Staff said the November meeting is intended as a facilitated work session that will include property owners because dissolving a planned residential development agreement adopted in 2000 is part of the process staff must complete to change zoning designations.
Staff said the session will occur during a regular city commission meeting, likely beginning at 7 p.m. with the Crawford'Broomfield item scheduled early in the agenda so the discussion does not run late into the evening. A professional facilitator will be present to structure the conversation, and staff will circulate the city commission packet about one week before the meeting. Staff invited commissioners who cannot attend to submit comments by email for the facilitator and consultants to consider.
