Southside dance team requests one-time Sunday use of school auditorium for spring fundraiser

Members of the Southside High School dance team asked the Rockville Centre UFSD Board of Education on Nov. 6 for permission to hold the team’s spring fundraiser clinic on Sunday, April 19.

Annalise Piccione and teammates said the date is the only workable option after reviewing the school calendar; they described the clinic as the team’s primary fundraiser, a community event that introduces younger dancers to the program and helps recruit future team members. Team members said they would meet any facility guidelines and invited board members to attend.

Superintendent Gavin responded that he would follow up with Dr. Walsh about the request and any necessary guidelines. The request was discussed during public comment; the board did not take a formal vote at the meeting.

Why it matters: The clinic serves as the dance team’s principal fundraiser and a recruitment event for the school program. Board direction to the superintendent to follow up is an administrative next step, not a policy change.
