Keonte Buck, speaking for Generations Forward, told the Cass County Board of Commissioners that the nonprofit acquired three parcels last year for a proposed affordable housing development in the Village of Vandalia.
Buck said one lot was acquired from the Michigan Land Bank and will be the first lot developed. He told the board that zoning approvals from both the county and the village were part of the grant application process, and that the Village of Vandalia provided a letter of recommendation for the project. Buck said the group intends to build three duplexes (six units) and will pursue planning commission approval to secure grant points and final project authorization.
Board staff and commissioners outlined next steps: the County Planning Commission will review relevant applications at its Nov. 19 meeting at 4 p.m. in the county building. Commissioners offered assistance and asked the interim administrator to coordinate with Buck on any county-level steps that could support the project.
No formal action was taken; Buck sought guidance and notified the board of the project’s status.
