Stacy McArthur, a member of the hiring committee, told council the panel graded candidates on education, municipal experience, leadership, financial management, community relations and fit for Pinetop Lakeside. McArthur said the committee received 25 applications — two internal and 23 external — and used score averages and council input to identify a natural break in the scores to select six candidates.
McArthur said a community survey created by Marketing Director Annie Derosha received 209 responses; the committee will use that feedback to shape interview questions and the public presentation component. The committee plans a written candidate assignment (a leadership and community-trust challenge) and Zoom interviews; the in-person panel and finalist presentations are planned for mid-January 2026, followed by council interviews.
McArthur said committee members and staff have collectively spent more than 40 hours on the process and that the committee is seeking representation from staff, business leaders and residents on the public panel. After presentations, the council intends to interview finalists in an open meeting and consider making an offer.
