Morris County commissioners reject three bids for telephony and broadband services

The Morris County Commissioner—s Court voted on Nov. 7 to reject three bids received in response to a solicitation opened April 25, 2025 for a new telephony communication system, maintenance of county telephone systems, and broadband Internet services. County staff said the bids varied widely in price and that rejecting the bids would allow the county to pursue alternative procurement approaches.
President Johnson told the court the disparity between the three bids was "kinda big" and said he wanted to put closure to the solicitation. The court discussed that addressing the county—s telephony needs at a future meeting may not require another RFP/RFQ process; staff and commissioners said they would explore different procurement options.
A motion to reject all three bids and close the current procurement was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The court directed staff to return with recommendations on next steps for replacing and maintaining county phone and broadband services.
