The Rye City School District Board of Education reviewed three policy updates during its Nov. 4 meeting and agreed to bring them forward for adoption at the next board meeting.
Jen Boyle summarized the changes: proposed revisions to Policy 5150 (student admissions) will incorporate kindergarten entrance language and the board plans to rescind the separate kindergarten entrance policy; proposed edits to the internal audit function remove language allowing use of internal personnel to conduct internal audits because the district does not use that option; and updates to Policy 6800 (payroll procedures) add detail about salary authorizations, overtime payment, paid leave and external-audit review procedures. Boyle said these changes resulted from external-audit feedback to increase procedural detail in policy.
Board members did not raise substantive objections and the policies were scheduled for formal adoption at the next meeting. No vote on adoption occurred on Nov. 4; the board moved the policies forward for action at the subsequent meeting.
