The City of West Sacramento on Nov. 5 held the public meeting required by Government Code section 54954.6 to receive public testimony on the proposed West Sacramento Tourism Marketing District (WSTMD).
Megan Styles, economic development staff, told the council that the city mailed notices to lodging-owners proposed to be assessed and opened a 45-day protest period after the council'initiated proceedings on Oct. 15 via Resolution 25-107. Styles said the city received one emailed public comment that was provided to council members and posted to the city website.
No members of the public requested to speak in person at the Nov. 5 meeting; the council opened and then closed the public meeting without oral testimony. Staff reminded the council that no action on formation will be taken at this meeting; the hearing on formation and any written protests is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2025. If a majority written protest exists at the public hearing, the district cannot be formed; if it does not exist, the council may proceed with formation.
