Glynn County Schools gives update on performing-arts center, Glendale Elementary and BHS field house construction

Facilities staff provided a multi-project update on district capital work, including the College of Coastal Georgia Performing Arts Center, the Glendale Elementary replacement and the Brunswick High School (BHS) field house.

At the performing-arts center, staff said exterior paving and grading and sidewalk pours are underway, drywall and interior finishes are in progress and window and door frames are in place; the project remains on schedule for a January 2026 completion date. Staff noted some EastPlus project balances are being drawn for this project.

Glendale Elementary replacement (Phase 2 site development) is reported as progressing well: all building pads are complete, three retention ponds have been dug, drainage has been approved, conduit and well have been installed and the district has received approval to complete the remaining bus loop and parent drop-off. Staff said they expect to begin digging footers in mid'to'late December and then turn the site over for building construction.

At BHS, staff said interior priming and painting are well underway, the roofing deck and ceiling priming are largely complete, HVAC units are being installed, plumbing rough'in is finished and electrical work is roughly 80% complete. Stucco finishing and gutter installation were reported as underway; staff listed a December completion target for the field house.

The board also saw photos and drone video footage of site progress. No vote was recorded during the facilities update; staff will continue to report schedule and punch-list items in subsequent meetings.
