City staff asked the Shelbyville mayor and council on Nov. 6 for authorization for the mayor to send a letter requesting last-dollar construction funds through the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).
"Informally, TDOT has notified us that there could be additional construction funds available through the Transportation Authority program," staff said, requesting a mayoral letter for roughly $1.3 million to secure final construction dollars for an overlook and associated right-of-way work.
Staff said the right-of-way acquisition step is nearing completion and the additional TAP construction funds would cover the final construction costs. The transcript shows the request for a letter but does not record a council vote authorizing the mayor to sign the letter during this study session.
