City Manager Scott told the Shelbyville mayor and council at the Nov. 6 study session that the city will receive a downtown-improvement grant of about $450,000 that requires a 25% local match.
"That grant paid for 450,000 with a required 25% match," Scott said in his staff report. He told council that roughly half of the grant funds are intended for private-property improvements and the other half for public municipal improvements, and staff will come back with details on how the city proposes to allocate its match and the grant funds.
Scott also said staff will follow up on policy decisions after a recent animal-control workshop and continue coordination on downtown projects. The transcript does not record a formal council vote authorizing specific expenditures tied to the grant during the Nov. 6 study session.
