The Waterbury Board of Education approved the appointment of Lindsey Davenport as supervisor of science effective upon execution of an employment contract, following a recommendation by Superintendent Dr. Schwartz.
"Miss Davenport brings over 13 years of secondary science teaching experience and 5 years as a middle school science curriculum specialist to her role as science supervisor," Dr. Schwartz said, outlining Davenport's experience with professional learning, curriculum alignment and the Next Generation Science Standards.
Davenport addressed the board and described her background in science education and leadership, thanked the board and recognized family members in the audience. "As I step into this new role, I am committed to continuing that work, to building strong partnerships with our teachers, aligning our curriculum with the Next Generation Science Standards, and ensuring that every student has access to engaging, equitable, and high quality science learning experiences," she said.
The motion to appoint Davenport was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members welcomed Davenport and asked that her family be recognized; the appointment was recorded in the minutes with effective date upon contract execution.
