He noted the Veterans Memorial letters were recently repainted with volunteer help so the inscription is legible from the square and said the planned Air Force flyover was postponed due to a nationwide budget impasse.
"VMI's participation is gonna be about 75 cadets, the pipe band, and a color guard," Hopkins told council.
Council members and staff encouraged students and residents to attend; event logistics including street closures and press releases will be communicated by staff.
