The Wenatchee City Council approved Resolution 2025‑39 on Nov. 6 to accept a donation of about 1.3 acres of land from William and Mary K. Larson adjacent to the Foothills North Natural Area (Balsamute Trail area). Parks Director Dave Erickson said staff reviewed the city’s comprehensive plan and level‑of‑service standards, and found the acquisition consistent with adopted goals and helpful in addressing natural‑area service‑level deficiencies.
Erickson told the council a survey had been completed, a boundary‑line adjustment application submitted in October and that staff have begun some of the acquisition steps; staff said about eight households had been relocated on another project and that the boundary process for this parcel was underway and expected to conclude soon. Councilmember Hornby moved approval and Councilmember Rojensijian seconded; the resolution passed by voice vote.
Staff said the gift will be transferred to the city and managed as part of the Foothills natural area system once documents are executed.
