Public Works Director Robert presented an estimate and requested board authorization on Nov. 6 to begin right-of-way acquisition and related actions for the Lumpkin Campground Road at State Route 53 intersection improvement project.
Robert said BM&K had prepared right-of-way cost estimates and that the project will require a mix of fee-simple acquisitions, permanent easements and temporary easements across approximately 11 parcels. He told commissioners that construction plans are roughly 90% complete but that the plans must be finalized in coordination with utility companies and that final right-of-way needs may change as utilities and other conditions are resolved.
Robert described components included in the estimate such as costs for signs and other damages and said the estimate includes a contingency. He asked the board to authorize the acquisition process and the budget set forth in the estimate so staff can proceed with owner contacts and acquisition negotiations.
Commissioners expressed support for moving the project forward. No roll-call vote was recorded in the work-session transcript; staff requested formal authorization to proceed.
