The Walton County Planning Commission approved a rezoning request for approximately 1 acre at 782 Highway 11 to highway‑business (B‑3) and forwarded the matter to the Board of Commissioners for final action.
John Shea, representing the owner Bill Shea, said the parcel abuts industrial property and is located at the approach to the new bypass. He told the commission the rezone is speculative — intended to align the zoning with the future land‑use designation to make the parcel marketable for a highway business use.
A commissioner moved to approve the application “as submitted.” The motion carried and the item will be on the BOC docket Dec. 2.
Staff noted the property’s adjacency to industrial uses and the future land‑use map designation in support of the rezoning; no members of the public registered opposition at the hearing.
