Residents urge voter education and ask council to consider naming alley after slain daughter
Summary

Deb Tyson told the council she conducts early voting and hears frequently that some residents do not realize it is voting day or are unsure what to vote for. Tyson urged more outreach aimed at younger adults, saying "we need to educate those that are 20 in their early thirties" so newer and younger residents know how and when to vote.
Rebecca Kimball requested that the alley where her daughter died be named after her daughter as a form of remembrance. Kimball said she had discussed the matter with zoning and brought documentation showing two prior alleys that had been named. She described the circumstances of her daughter's death and said she sought the alley naming to obtain a measure of justice and remembrance. Kimball asked the council to vote on the request or refer it to the Law & Ordinance Committee.
Council President confirmed the Law & Ordinance Committee would discuss the request at its next meeting. The council did not take formal action on the alley-naming request at this meeting; the matter is designated for committee consideration.
