County digest delay shifts Snellville tax-billing window to Oct. 15–Jan. 15
Summary
City staff told the council that Georgia’s House Bill 581 and other state changes have delayed the county’s tax digest return, prompting the city to adopt an Oct. 15–Jan. 15 window for issuing property tax bills and to add language to bills covering stormwater and sanitation fees.

City staff told the mayor and council at a Sept. 22 work session that changes imposed by the state, including House Bill 581, have shifted the county tax digest schedule. The county has communicated a new timeline for returning the digest of Oct. 15 to Jan. 15, and staff said the city intends to use October 15 as its internal date to begin issuing bills.
Staff said the change affects the timing for property tax, stormwater and sanitation fee billing. "So October 15 to January 15 is the date that you have in mind," staff told the council during the meeting, and said staff will add language to the city's billing documents to reflect the revised dates and to include stormwater and sanitation fees.
No formal action or vote was recorded in the session on the billing language. Staff said the county informed the city it expects the Oct. 15 date to be the permanent schedule moving forward. The city also confirmed it has received the county digest and is working through its internal process to meet the Oct. 15 timing for bill issuance.
