The Fire Chief reported that a community food drive organized by John Cooper Jr., Miami Township's community health coordinator, will include drive-through drop-off locations on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with participating sites that include the Milford Fire Station (State Route 131 / Milford Parkway), Miami Township Fire Station 26 (5900 McPicken Drive), Station 27 (Branch Hill/Guinea Pike), Heartland Christian Church, Goshen United Methodist Church, and Williams Corner Church of God.
In addition to the drive-through event, the fire department will accept nonperishable donations at the Milford fire station round-the-clock from Nov. 5 through the evening of Nov. 12; the department will secure a lobby exterior door where donations may be left.
The chief also reported that a recent fundraiser for firefighter Philip Noss's son, Austin Noss, raised over $8,000; donations remain accepted via Venmo and information is available on the department's Facebook page. He also provided an update on a 1945 antique fire truck undergoing restoration and said the department hopes it may be available for community events such as Santa Sunday.
There were no questions about emergency incidents requiring extended discussion; the chief said a recent call at Target involved a short-circuit in a freezer resulting in smoke and minor property damage with no injuries reported.
