Paul Felter, executive director of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, told council McFarland State Park is staffed with volunteers, attendance and gift shop sales are steady, a refreshed printed visitor map is going to press, and registration is open for a Feb. 28 car show.
Paul Felter, executive director of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, told the Florence Town Council the chamber and McFarland State Park have seen steady attendance and that the park is now staffed.
"McFarland State Park is officially staffed," Felter said, thanking volunteers including Bonnie Variola and Karen Parks for their regular coverage. He reported recent presentations at the park drew good attendance, and said the park’s gift shop and visitor numbers have remained steady.
Felter said the chamber has produced a new printed visitor map — the first update in roughly three years — intended for distribution at visitor centers and partner locations. He noted the map includes updated street graphics and advertiser icons for downtown and nearby neighborhoods.
He also announced an auto show scheduled for Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with registration already live on a new website. "Registration is available on a brand new website," Felter said.
Council members and residents thanked Felter for his work, noting increased energy and participation at mixers and events since his arrival.
Speakers during the public comment period included Paul Felter, several council members who offered praise, and other community members who referenced partnerships between the town and chamber. No formal council action was taken on the chamber items.
