Wayne select board adopts committee charges for infrastructure, building and comprehensive plan

The Town of Wayne Select Board on Nov. 4 approved charges for the infrastructure committee, the building committee and the comprehensive plan committee, making small wording edits to clarify quorum and voting thresholds.

Each committee charge insertion standardized the voting sentence to read that a committee requires a quorum and a specified number of "yes" votes to approve action (for example, a five‑member infrastructure committee requires three members for a quorum and three yes votes to approve any action). The building committee charge was approved with the same insertion; board discussion briefly considered whether an "annual assessment" requirement should be revised but members ultimately retained the annual cadence in the document.

For the comprehensive plan committee the board added a drafting change: the committee's heading now reads "Purpose and duration," and the charge includes a new subparagraph clarifying that the committee's work shall be concluded upon town‑meeting adoption and state approval of a new or updated comprehensive plan prepared by the committee. The motion to approve the comprehensive plan committee charge, with the inserted wording and the new subparagraph, passed 4–0.

Board members agreed the finalized documents will be used to recruit members and to guide committee operations. The board asked staff to circulate the documents with line numbers to facilitate further edits and to begin soliciting committee applicants once the language is finalized.
