After meeting in executive session to discuss personnel and contractual matters, the Kershaw County School District Board of Trustees reconvened and announced the results of Superintendent Jay Harrison Goodwin's annual evaluation. The chair said Goodwin was rated "exceptional" across evaluated areas including instructional leadership, communication and community engagement, budget operations and innovation.
A board member moved that, based on the evaluation, the board authorize an amendment to Goodwin's employment agreement to (1) increase his salary by 2% effective July 1, 2025, (2) extend his employment one additional year through June 30, 2029, and (3) increase his automobile allowance by $500. The motion was seconded; the chair called for the ayes and the board approved the amendment unanimously. The chair also noted district fiscal stewardship, staff pay increases and Goodwin's reception of the 2025 South Carolina National School Population Association Administration of the Year Award in remarks that praised district leadership.
