IT and grants staff report USIMS progress and UtahGrants development milestones

IT director Jared Felt and project managers gave a monthly status update on UCIMS/USIMS and UtahGrants.
USIMS: Katrina Brinkley (USIMS project manager) said staff paused release of educator‑assignment exports pending final checks and to ensure assignment data flow to CACTUS is handled correctly; UCIMS allows educators to be assigned to multiple LEAs/schools, a model CACTUS does not currently support. She announced a deployment of an IEP plan identifier to USIMS and said one SIS vendor is in parallel testing and expected to go live with the student backpack integration in the coming month.
UtahGrants: Grants manager Rebecca Nielsen reported concentrated vendor work sprints and progress on multi‑funding‑source applications (one application for multiple funding sources), a PDF comparison tool, dashboard/reporting improvements, streamlining approval workflows and automating FFATA (Federal Funding Accountability & Transparency Act) reporting. Rebecca said FFATA automation should save the agency roughly 40 staff hours per month.
Both teams said they are continuing iterative user testing with LEA partners and will prioritize fixes and new features guided by user feedback and risk‑reduction considerations.
