Resident asks Jacksonville Beach to preserve 35-year women's 'E League' at golf course

Kathy Hall, 1639 6th Street South, urged the council to consider an alternative to proposed golf-course bylaws and a rate-resolution change that she said would dismantle the long-running E League, a women—s group that plays on Thursdays.
Hall said E League has existed for more than 35 years and includes about 100 women, almost all senior citizens. "In a month, E League requests 1.78% of the total course time. In a year, this comes to 1.67% of total course tee times," she told the council. She said merging E League with the Tuesday women—s league, as suggested by Trevor Hughes, would increase the Tuesday group from about 30 to roughly 130 women and could raise the per-player cost for an 18-hole round after 10 a.m. from the proposed $34 to $53 (including tax).
Hall proposed two options: retain E League as currently organized, or allow it to remain as a single group while waiving the $11 per-player group surcharge and charging each E League player a $50 annual fee similar to the Tuesday women—s league. "E League provides a physically and mentally healthy outlet for about 100 senior citizens," she said, adding the league contributes revenue to the course while using under 2% of available tee times annually.
No formal council action was recorded on the golf-course bylaws or rates during the meeting; Hall said she had provided a memo to council members and offered to answer questions or provide contact information for follow-up.
