Jacksonville Beach awards engineering RFQ to four firms, authorizes contract negotiations

Jacksonville Beach City Council voted Nov. 3 to award RFQ number 082425 for Beaches Energy engineering services to four firms and to authorize the mayor and city manager to negotiate resulting contracts.
Matthew Seeley, Beaches Energy electrical engineering project supervisor, presented the item and said the city has "greatly benefited from this relationship in the past" and sought authorization to begin negotiating with the top-ranked firms. The four firms named in the motion were Chen Moore & Associates; Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc.; GAI Consultants, Inc.; and KCI Technologies, Inc.
A council member clarified that awarding the RFQ does not obligate the city to contract with all four firms and that the city could choose among them as prices and proposals are negotiated; staff confirmed that is the intent.
Council voted to award RFQ #082425 and then separately authorized the mayor and city manager to negotiate and execute contracts as applicable. The motions passed by roll call.
