Strafford County provides updates on courthouse roof, Riverside access and issues RFP for warming center demolition/construction

County facilities staff updated the commission on several capital projects and on the status of a warming-center RFP.
Staff reported the courthouse roof replacement is on schedule for completion next week and said contractors have eliminated leaks; the new roof carries a 50-year warranty, staff said. Work on the county attorney's expansion and archive shelving reorganization was also reported complete or progressing. Staff described using infrared and drone-based surveys to locate insulation wet spots on older roofs and said they will use those results to prioritize future repairs.
At the Riverside facility, staff said they are reconfiguring Unit 1's entrance to a motion-sensor sliding interior door and an exterior key-fob garage-style opener so residents can enter and exit without staff intervention. Staff said the door modification should be installed by December or early January.
On the warming-center project, staff said they revised the RFP to allow bidders to submit separate bids for demolition and for construction and added language to request conceptual cost breakdowns. The RFP was sent to county staff for review and the current timetable sets the final submission for the first Thursday in December at 9 a.m. (Dec. 4).
Commissioners noted the projects and requested updates to the mayor and municipal partners; staff indicated they expect to present interim results to the mayor in mid-December as the RFP process proceeds.
