Kingsburg BID board approves dollar-trolley rides on four holiday Saturdays

The Kingsburg Downtown Business Improvement District Advisory Board voted Friday to rent the city’s "dollar trolley" on four Saturdays during the 2025 holiday season, approving the plan at a special meeting called to order by Amanda Carrasco at 8:04 a.m.

The board approved renting the trolley on Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 and set operating hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The schedule was chosen to align with the Chamber of Commerce’s planned Santa appearances, which Carrasco said would run from "10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so keep that in mind."

Board members discussed two hour options — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — and noted the trolley is charged by the hour. One member said most retail foot traffic begins at 10 a.m., and Michelle, a board member, said she preferred 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., adding that matching Santa’s hours would simplify advertising.

Michelle moved to approve the trolley rental for the designated Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Amanda Carrasco seconded the motion. The board approved the rental by voice vote; the transcript records a voice vote and the chair saying the "motion passes," but no roll-call tally was recorded.

At the start of the meeting the board also approved the agenda by voice vote and opened public comment; no members of the public addressed the board. With no further business, Carrasco adjourned the meeting at about 8:08 a.m.

Details recorded in the meeting: the trolley is already booked in the evenings, the Chamber of Commerce has booked Santa for Saturdays 10 a.m.–2 p.m., and the board agreed to consistent hours across the selected dates to simplify promotion and coordination.
