NAMI (Cape and Islands) applied for a $60,000 capacity grant to support local services on Nantucket, including incorporation of ASAP functions and expanded outreach. Committee members said NAMI brings existing advocacy and local connections but asked for a representative to attend the interview cycle to explain staffing, scope and how the capacity funds would be used.
Jericho Maley reported that a previously funded gap program to supplement therapist reimbursements (used during the pandemic) will end at the close of the fiscal year and that NAMI’s prior work had included that stopgap measure. Committee members noted that the gap program had been administratively intensive and may not be sustainable as structured; the capacity grant application is framed to support NAMI’s island presence in a manner more consistent with its core mission.
The committee invited Jackie (NAMI representative) or another NAMI designee to present at the interview session and asked staff to collect any additional information needed for deliberations.
