Facilities leadership and construction consultants told the board on Oct. 27 they are advancing planning for the 2026 project cycle and wrapping up several near‑term items.
Planned priorities include separating the Trails drop‑off loop from parking to reduce pedestrian conflicts, repaving/repairing district roads (including seal coat, mill‑and‑overlay or full rebuilds as needed), and improving sidewalks and walking pads to ensure safe pedestrian routes.
The Hilltop building remains a major concern. Facilities staff and consultants reported the heating system has limited reliability: boilers are “semi‑functional,” piping is old and subject to scaling that reduces flow, and asbestos removal will be required for either renovation or demolition. Triangle Construction will deliver a comprehensive needs assessment, including high‑level cost estimates, at the Dec. board meeting. The district is also meeting with Northern Analytics about asbestos abatement costs and options.
Staff said they will present prioritized project options and alternates so the board can decide which items to fund from bond proceeds and which to defer depending on bid results.
Shorter‑term items included a lower‑cost sidewalk access solution for the cold‑storage building (estimated cost ~ $19,000 versus earlier $35,000 estimate) and weight‑room flooring expected to arrive for installation.
