Cedar Rapids students earn all‑state honors; cheer squad places at state meet

The district recognized a string of student accomplishments in music and athletics. Jefferson High School’s Connor Patty was selected to the Iowa all‑state chorus for a third consecutive year; Tamar Calimbi was named an alternate. Washington High School had multiple students selected for choir and orchestra, and several middle schools were represented at NEIBA and the Iowa Junior Honors Orchestra Festival.
Hosts also celebrated the district’s competitive cheer programs. At the ICCA state championships on Nov. 1 the district’s coed dance team finished third and the coed stunt group won first place. The podcast highlighted team members by name and noted that Eli Tongoli, a male member of the coed stunt group, has received multiple college offers for cheerleading. Aubrey Simmons was named to the 2025–26 All State cheer squad.
The district expressed pride in the students’ achievements and encouraged the community to join in recognition of their accomplishments.
