Several community events and opportunities were highlighted on the Nov. 6 City of Kirkland podcast.
Fisk Family Park ribbon cutting: The city announced a ribbon cutting for Fisk Family Park at 212 6th Street on Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. The nearly half‑acre neighborhood park includes a small stream, natural open space and a storybook‑style tiny red cabin along the Cross Kirkland Corridor in the Everest neighborhood. The park is named in recognition of James G. Fisk and family contributions; the city purchased the property in 2023 with help from donations including the Kirkland Community Foundation.
Kirkland Turkey Trot: The annual Turkey Trot is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16. The podcast said roads will be impacted from 9 to about 11:30 a.m., with a detour on eastbound Juanita Drive from 93rd Avenue to 98th Avenue; participants and residents should plan for closures during the event. The race benefits a local high school booster club.
Ignite Kirkland giving campaign: Ignite Kirkland, hosted by the Kirkland Community Foundation, is running through Nov. 24. The foundation curates a catalog of local nonprofit projects and invites donations to support youth programs, arts initiatives, park improvements and mental‑health services.
Free CPR class and business workshop: The podcast reminded listeners to register for a free CPR, AED and First Aid basics class on Nov. 12 led by certified instructors. The hosts also noted a business workshop on Nov. 12 at Kirkland City Hall for merchants seeking to optimize holiday sales; Veterans Day city office closures were noted for Nov. 11.
For registration details, event maps and donation links the podcast directed listeners to show notes and to the Kirkland Community Foundation and city websites.
