Committee members discussed how to balance resident access and nonresident patronage at the newly opened Lizard Acres pub.
Gary, Sports Pavilion manager, said October was the pub's first month and that keg counts indicate robust beer sales, though financials are not yet complete. He announced a small test entertainment date (Scott Johnson) and suggested using November and December as a monitoring period. "If we find a lot of residents that can't get in, then we will address that in January," Gary said.
Staff floated a possible approach: allow residents priority entry (for example, an early window) and then charge a modest cover for nonresidents (sample figure discussed: $5) after resident priority access. Committee members and several residents urged caution — noting that band popularity varies and that cover charges or stricter enforcement could affect attendance and revenue. Several residents recommended posting clear information at the door and collecting rec cards during busy events to better understand resident versus nonresident attendance before implementing a firm policy.
The committee did not adopt a formal cover‑charge policy at the meeting; it asked staff to collect attendance data over November–December and return with recommendations to protect resident access without unduly reducing revenue.
