Portland Public Schools’ Public & Legislative Affairs Committee voted to support a resolve directing the inclusion of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) history in the statewide system of learning results and to continue tracking the bill.

Dr. Grace Valenzuela noted broad and bipartisan support and recommended staff continue to monitor whether the measure requires district changes to curriculum or professional learning. Chair Lentz said the committee would track the bill’s movement, especially since similar legislation has been considered by the governor and could be held pending executive action.

The committee recorded support, without immediate additional action beyond tracking and coordinating on timing with staff when legislative hearings are scheduled.
