At the Nov. 6 meeting the administrative committee reported that collection barrels for a holiday food drive have been placed at multiple locations across Emeryville, including City Hall, the ECCL Building B lobby, the senior center, Bay Street, the pool, the Emeryville Police Department and local businesses such as Orangetheory. The committee said donations will be consolidated and delivered to ECAP with distribution planned; volunteers are requested, particularly on weekdays, and training sessions were planned.
Committee members emphasized ECAP's increased demand and volunteer fatigue; staff encouraged youth and community volunteers, including teams that need community-service hours, to sign up. Specific logistics noted: barrels will be collected through the following week and consolidated for delivery on Monday the 17th between 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. The committee asked members to share flyers and outreach materials on social channels.
Next steps: staff to continue outreach to community partners for volunteers, finalize delivery logistics with ECAP and distribute volunteer sign-up information to members and partners.
