County seeks $800,000 in LSA funds to replace obsolete electrical gear at Greysdale

County administration presented a request on Nov. 6 for $800,000 in Local Share Account funds to replace obsolete electrical gear and panels in the mechanical room of the main Greysdale building.
County staff said equipment at Greysdale is aging and difficult to source replacement parts for, and that the request includes contingency funding to cover engineering, permitting and inspections; a local electrical contractor’s low quote came in just under $700,000. When asked what would happen if the county does not receive the grant, staff said the project would need to be budgeted through the county’s capital budget at a later date.
Commissioner Jeff Warren spoke in support of Greysdale, describing its role in providing rehabilitative care and saying the county has a moral obligation to maintain the facility. Administration said it was asking the council simply to vote to approve LSA pass-through sponsorship so the county can act as the grant pass-through if the state awards funds. No formal vote was recorded during the presentation on Nov. 6.
